Benefits of Red Raspberry Leaf Tea During Pregnancy 07/02/10
Hello my friends, I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with my first baby and the journey has not been anything short of amazing. Researching every single question that I have had has proved to be very beneficial for making informed decisions.
During a conversation with a friend of mine she mentioned if I had ever thought of Red Raspberry Leaf tea to help with my labor and delivery. This intrigued me very much and came across some very interesting information.
All the information I had was that Red Raspberry Leaf tea would strengthen and tone the uterus in order to prepare it for pregnancy. Therefore it can be taken if you are looking to get pregnant and if you already are. Two cups can be taken per day if you are trying to get pregnant. Once you have conceived, it is best to abstain and begin again at 35 weeks.
As you are experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions your uterus will focus better and tone up if you are drinking the tea.
Since Red Raspberry Leaf tea is not made of the raspberries but their leaves, it does not taste like the fruit, as much as we would like that, but the vitamins and minerals in the tea far outweigh the taste.
A simple breakdown of the Red Raspberry Leaf tea’s “ingredients” are as follows:
- Vitamin E, for better blood circulation, since during pregnancy we have much more running through our bodies.
- Vitamin A, for healthy baby skin and bone development.
- Vitamin B complex
- High concentration of vitamin C
- Calcium, an easily assimilated form that helps control nerve response to pain during childbirth and aids baby’s bone development.
- Iron
- Manganese
- Magnesium
- Minerals including phosphorous and potassium
These vitamins and minerals are also essential for replacing the ones lost during delivery and the blood loss involved. Your uterus will be toned so that during delivery it will contract more powerfully and effectively, and after delivery it will adequately return to its usual size.
At this point, we have no conclusive evidence through medical studies that can give us statistical data of the benefits of Red Raspberry Leaf tea. At the same time, why should we? The benefits of this natural herb far outweigh the ones gained from man-made chemicals that have many adverse side effects.
If you have experience in taking Red Raspberry Leaf tea before, during, and after your pregnancy I welcome you to post your comments and experiences. This will show other expectant mothers that we were meant to birth our babies naturally.

The benefits of Red Raspberry Leaf tea are great! I started drinking it around 36 weeks. I wish I had something to compare it to, but I really feel that it made my uterus nice and strong. Pushing was a breeze! LOL. I mean as much as it can be. I am actually still drinking it 7.5 months later. My partner LOVES it too! Are you drinking it now? Let me know as there is a great blend I can suggest for you to try!
Hi Melissa,
I am so happy to hear that Red Raspberry Leaf tea worked for you! It’s exciting to hear feedback from my readers. Thank you so much.
I started drinking it also in my third trimester and I am hoping for the best when the time comes, I will be posting my birth story.
I would love to know what blend you are using. Please let me know it would be great to also share it with others. Thanks again.
The blend that is perfect for pregnancy has Rasp leaf, nettle (for Iron), alfalfa (calcium, magnisium, potassium, phosphorus), patridge berry (which is really good for the uterus aswell), and pepermint for taste! Or you could add lemon balm too for it’s calming effects. I know I have really bad anxiety and I put that in with my Rasp tea and it’s really nice.
I don’t know how easy it is to get all these herbs, but I will let you know I work for an online mama store and we make our own mama teas! Have a look you might be able to get some ideas! http://www.mamagoddessbirthshop.com/.
